Sometimes in life you just need to make changes, some for the best, and some, not so much.. I recently made a change in my Krav Maga training, A couple of friends of mine that I used to train with in Ocala Florida started training in Tampa with a new instructor. Curiosity got the best of me and I signed up for a 3 day weekend of ICCS Krav Maga training with Sharir Richman from ICCS Krav Maga in Israel. I was there to learn, and boy did I. I learned that all of the Krav Maga i already learned at my previous training school were lacking something. Mainly reality training that ICCS Krav Maga does on a regular basis.
What is reality training? Simply put, You put on protective gear such as a Sharpatz (IDF training protection vest) boxing head gear with a full face cage and boxing gloves / mouth piece and we train techniques we have learned at 100 percent speed and 100 percent aggression. Hands down, this is the best type of Krav Maga training needed to "cement" in the techniques we learned in training sessions. Technique can and will go out the window, the important part of reality training is to move forward with aggression and deliver as much damage as you can. When learning Krav Maga "statically" or standing in one spot, holding that punch or choke hold so your training partner can apply the defense is good if you only want to learn Krav Maga lite.. you will get more out of a zumba class.
